YouTube is allowing politicians and their campaigns to purchase limited ad space, including ads that target important voting states like Ohio and South Carolina.
The platform’s Instant Reserve is a tool that was recently launched in Google Ads. YouTube is testing across various industries with the goal to allow marketers to plan campaigns with a more fixed budget and predicted reach.
Google has already seen front-runners for the 2020 election spend approximately 21.8 million in advertising across its platforms. This number is still less than what politicians pay for Facebook ads, which run around $43.5 million.
Google and YouTube may be able pull away some of the advertising from Facebook by giving politicians more control over where ads are run and allowing for more targeted advertising.
