Supreme Court Will Review a Case on NCAA Compensation Limits

The U.S. Supreme Court announced that it would review a case testing whether the NCAA’s limits on compensation for student athletes violate antitrust laws.

With the ongoing national battle between athletes and their schools, the outcome of the case could have major consequences for college athletics.

The NCAA claims that it is trying to protect amateurism and competitive equality between schools. Players argues that top school teams are operating a system that acts as a classic restraint of trade in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act.

The big question of the case is whether these athletes are employees or students.
