Ashley Judd Names Harvey Weinstein in a Lawsuit Connected to The Lord of the Rings

Ashley Judd filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein in Monday, April 30, 2018, stating that the film producer sabotaged her career when he spread false statements about her work as an actress after she rejected his sexual advances.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, and Judd seeks damages for defamation, sexual harassment, and California laws that govern unfair competition. Judd stated that she had not known about the incident under scrutiny at the time, but Peter Jackson has come forward as her ally when he confirmed that he removed Judd from a casting list for The Lord of the Rings due to statements made by Weinstein, namely that Judd was difficult to work with and should be avoided “at all costs.” Judd’s complaint also claims that Weinstein’s false statements had a long-lasting impact on her entire career.
