Manafort’s Challenge to Special Counsel Thrown Out

The civil lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, has been tossed by a federal judge in Washington.

The suit alleged that the Department of Justice exceeded its authority by appointing special counsel Robert Mueller and that Mueller exceeded his authority as well.

Mueller’s indictment charges Manafort with money laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent in connection with his work for Ukraine. Another case charges him with tax evasion, bank fraud, and failure to report overseas bank accounts.

The judge wrote in her opinion that Manafort’s suit had not “identified any harm that is actual or imminent, and not hypothetical.”
